Who is NECA Group Training?

ECA Training Pty Limited (trading as NECA Group Training) is a not-for-profit Registered Group Training company and a Registered Charitable Institution owned by the National and Electrical Communications Association (NECA). The Company was formed on 28 January 1988, for the purpose of training electrical mechanical apprentices for the electrical contracting industry.

Controlled by a Board of five Directors, each of whom is an electrical contractor and in business in his own right, the company understands the needs of the contractor and the training requirements of apprentices. Barry Dawson, the General Manager, manages a team of highly skilled managers, field staff (all with electrical qualifications) and administrative staff in NSW, ACT and QLD. NECA Group Training employs apprentices for the duration of their apprenticeship – currently four years and whilst employed by the company, apprentices do not work from the company premises, but are placed with electrical contractors, “Host Trainers” from whom they work and gain on-the-job practical training. It is not the intention of the Company to employ apprentices unless it can keep them fully employed and productive for the full term of their apprenticeship.

NECA Group Training is supported by NECA with professional advice including OH&S consulting to management, industrial relations and legal consulting services.
